The homeowner’s interior designer contacted me stating that this client was interested in remodeling their master bath with the primary objective to make the shower larger.  The designer indicated other professionals had looked at this space and could not present a solution that would satisfy the client without adding on to the home.

The water closet was relocated into an area that was a linen closet, and for a larger shower, one of the entries to the bath was moved.  Both doorways were fitted with new custom built 1 ¾” thick double hung doors.  Tall storage cabinets flanked either side of the shower, one incorporated a warming drawer for towels.

The shower is fitted with ¾” thermostatic control valve and large shower head. Volume controls activate the side body sprays and shower head.  A separate valve activates the hand held shower and is located close to the large seat area.  A standard pewter finish was chosen for the plumbing fittings to compliment the cool cabinet color and countertops.  Walls in the shower are finished in a honed marble with accent tile.  The clear glass enclosure makes the shower more volumous.

Vanities stayed in their general area but added a make-up section with additional specialty drawers.  Wall cabinets added additional storage and a space for a radio. The color of the paint on the cabinets is a color match soft green with a glaze.  With such a strong color on the cabinets, a more muted tone was selected for the tops and flooring.  Adjustable and directional can lights were fitted into the fly over canopy.  The make-up area has long decorative sconce fixtures for even lighting.

The existing tub was sunken into the floor and was very deep making difficult to enter and exit.  The new tub is larger, incorporates better function, features and is much safer.  The owner chose the jetted therapy with air bath and patented cleaning technology.

Adding to the luxury of the space is the radiant heated floor system.

Both the clients and the interior designer were extremely pleased with the new bath stating, “they wished they would have done this project earlier”.
